Bible Verse of the Day

But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No,” lest you fall into judgment.
James 5:12

4 Easy Ways To Teach Your Child The Bible

Last night, I went to the local Women’s Ministry and studied the bible with them. One of the women was concerned that her granddaughter has trouble understanding. She attempted to read a picture bible, yet she was only 5 years old. Another woman advised her about teaching a child how to read the bible without pushing too hard. In fact, I agreed with that, and no one should force a child to read the bible. Let’s learn how to teach your child the bible.

4 Easy Ways To Teach Your Child The Bible

  1. Begin by telling the bible bedtime stories. Many parents are very motivated to help their child read the bible, but – most of the children have a problem understanding because the subject may be overwhelming for them. Telling the bible bedtime stories is a great idea to train a child in reading the bible.
  2. Teach your child to read the bible for 10-15 mins per day. Some parents teach some children to read the bible for more than 15 minutes, and it seems that it is too much for children depending on their age. Some parents are willing to train a child to read the bible within 10-15 minutes per day.
  3. Recreate the bible with drama and play the character. Playing the biblical character in the show is very fun! Many children love to play the characters, and it makes them more motivated to learn and read the bible.
  4. Watch the bible stories DVD for a while. I remember when my two young sons loved to watch the bible stories from VeggieTales. They watched the bible stories almost every night before their bedtime. Otherwise, another option is to get on Netflix and search for VeggieTales or other cartoon bible stories.

If your child does not want to learn more about the bible, it’s okay. You can act like you are reading the bible, your child will look up to your action. And she or he will be curious and will come to you and ask more questions about the bible. It’s worth a try, because your children can benefit from a loving example from a Christ-like parent.

I like this idea. I have found that the Children’s bibles are pretty cool for them. Big print. Pictures. The stories are told in a way that they can understand. My nephew enjoys his a lot.
