Today, I am writing my post in order to help my readers understanding 7 precious and simple reasons why I am thankful for God.
7 Reasons I Am Thankful For God
1) God’s Protection
10 years ago, my former husband abused me emotionally and physically, no one helped me and my sons. I had been stuck for 2 years until my former husband left us. I lost my faith in God, because I had no knowledge of God’s Word, or the reason for existence in my life. One day, I found a devotional bible on a bookshelf and I started to read until I found one of the biblical verses that stood out like a sore thumb. The verse was powerful:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 3:16
I am thankful that God is always with me wherever I go. I know that I am not afraid of anyone nor anything, because God stays with me. It says “Do not fear” 365 different times in the Bible. One for each day of the year.
2) God’s Love
After my former husband left us, I was a single mother with two sons. After all, I felt so lonely and I felt unloved, no one loved me and my sons. One night, my bible was on my night-stand drawer right next to me and I felt that God wanted me to read the bible. So I read some until I found one of the biblical verses about God’s love.
“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” – 1 John 4:16
This verse helps me to remember God’s love, because I see that He loves me as I love Jesus Christ. I am thankful that God loves us unconditionally.
3) God’s Promise
While I was single mom, my sons and I needed a lot of help with paying the bills, foods, and clothes. But, God’s faithfulness brought us an amazing surprise. He has promised to supply every need we have.
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19
I am thankful that God provides me some needs He supplies.
4) God’s Courage
I was an insecure person, because I felt like that I was not good enough to make things work with my sons through tough times emotionally since my former husband left us. My family did not help me and my sons at all, my friends ignored me because I was an “invisible” person. But, my pastor from my former church phoned me and he wanted to know if his wife and he came to visit us at home. I was grateful that God sent them to visit us. His wife brought some foods for me and my sons, it was very nice of her to do that. My pastor gave me one important verse about God’s Courage.
“For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” – Isaiah 41:13
This verse helps me to know that God is with me because he continues to help me going through tough times. I am thankful that God always be there to help me no matter what.
5) God’s Forgiveness
After my divorce was finalized, I almost fell in some sinful world. However, one of my faithful friends stopped by and helped me going through painful times. She told me to repent my sins to God and asked for His forgiveness, because she understood that divorce was not my fault. God knew that divorce was never my choice but my former husband did it. I cried a lot, I was very grateful that she was my supportive friend. She advised me to read one of her favorite verses:
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:9
I am thankful that God uses my good friend to help me repenting my sins and asking for His forgiveness.
6) God’s Peace
While I was a single mother, I had tough times with my two sons. I felt that I could not find peace in my life, because of my painful emotions. So one of my faithful friends sent me an email with a wonderful verse about God’s peace.
“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:16
I have a note of this verse with me so I can remember. I am thankful that God always gives me peace.
7) God’s Joy
7 years after my final divorce, I am very joyful to have my new husband whom God approves. My husband is Christian and he is also a pastor. He brings me all the happiness I need, because I trusted God’s will. God gave me a better chance to be happy again.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” – Romans 15:13
I am thankful that God brought me all the joy.
