Book Review
Since two weeks ago I got out of my surgery, I have been staying at home. My doctor does not allow me to be more active because of my cochlear implant. He does not want me to lose my balance if I am very active such as dizziness. So I take his advice.
At home, I am in my bed and read some blogs from my laptop, I have a lot of things in my mind about blogging tips. I just want to consider what I should do with my lifestyle blog, livelaughlovepost.com. And I need to change something in my blog so it can grow traffic. I am aware of that Ruth Soukup’s blogging workshop already started last month – but, I cannot afford to pay an expensive workshop. $399? Can you afford it? Many bloggers say that this workshop is so worth it! This workshop will open next Fall 2016. I can save my money this year. Instead of going to the workshop, the bloggers say that this book, How To Blog For Profit Without Selling Your Soul by Ruth Soukup, is very fantastic!
I decided to purchase a Kindle ebook, “How To Blog For Profit Without Selling Your Soul” and read this book…
What Could I Think Of This Book?
After finishing the book, I realized that Ruth’s statement was very true: “Don’t try to build your blog traffic if your blog isn’t ready.” I have to stop jumping in the RUSH and push my blog getting more traffic. So – I admit to make some mistakes; however, I am very happy to learn some lessons from this book. What about organizing my blog? Well, I have something to clean up my blog and organize the sections. I think that I have to remove some sections where I do not need anymore, because I do not write the topic posts related to some unused sections very often.
And I decide to quit the giveaway hops with the other bloggers, because I notice that many giveaway hops require minimum $25 or more for the pirze. Participating the giveaway hops is very fun! Honestly, it sounds so stupid that some people favor the giveaway hops more than just reading my blog. That’s true.. On the other hand, I like to participate the blog hops (linky up parties), which are free! They do not require minimum $25 or more for the prize. It’s not like the giveaway hop. Link party is when you link up your blog post and get to “know” other bloggers well. Link parties are easily attentive and enjoyable. It was like you are walking through the adventurous travel to different link parties where the blogs increase more traffic. I really like that the bloggers be encouraged to visit at least two blog posts and leave the comments, I do usually link up my posts with the bloggers every week or every Monday or whatever day. I visit a few blogs and leave my comments. More importantly, I let them know that I visit their blogs, because I want the bloggers to appreciate my visiting the blogs.
I have no chance to ask the bloggers if I would write a post as the guest post or not…. I am a little bit concerned that the bloggers would probably reject my guest post review before officially publishing it in their blogs. Ruth’s statement: “Don’t waste time with guest posts if you are not also willing to make your guest posts really, really, really good.” – it’s what I am concerned because my writing skill in my blog are not always great. I always ask my husband to do proof-reading and edit my post before publish it. I will try to ask the bloggers if I would write a guest post or not.
I give the 4 stars rating to this book, it is an incredible book for anyone who want to start a blog. And it is very useful to the experienced bloggers.
After reading your post, I will be looking for the book How to blog for income without selling your soul. Just in reading your review, I see that it is right up my alley. I am constantly comparing myself to other bloggers, especially those who are just very naturally whimsical and witty. I’m constantly feeling like I don’t “measure up” to what a blogger should be like. I look forward to reading the book and learning for all it has to offer!
