I am not sure if you have read my recent post or not. If not, it’s okay. In my recent post, I said that I had a good time with my family and friends during my Holidays, except for Christmas Eve. Now, I am going to tell you what happened on Christmas Eve. Meanwhile, I am writing my post on how to stay aware about your adversary.
My Story
On Christmas Eve, I went to the church for Christmas Celebration. I ended up getting a fever that day. The fever did not hit me until after the middle of the Christmas Celebration. I did not realize that my fever was my “adversary”. Unfortunately, my fever attacked me unexpectedly. While Christmas Celebration was continuing, my fever was increasing terribly! While I was sitting, I was praying that the Lord helped me to stay alive, and continue to be patient with my family and friends. I did not want to spoil my time with them, I suspected that my fever as an adversary attempted to destroy my Christmas weekend. Finally, we went home. My fever got up to 102.6 degrees! It got hot, it became very worse! My husband arrived home from work and came up to check on me like he does everyday. He kissed my forehead when he saw me sleeping, and felt how hot I was. My husband took my temperature immediately and asked my son to get cold/fever medicine from the retail store while he took care of me. He put an ice pack over my head. Hour by hour, I stayed in my bed and slept. My husband prayed that my fever as an adversary needed to get out soon before Christmas day. Later in the evening, after cleaning the house, my husband checked on me, and my fever eventually broke down to 99.8 degrees. It was not so bad. I was thankful that the Lord took my fever away and healed me getting better! Now, I am going to explain how to stay aware about your adversary.
How To Stay Aware About Your Adversary
Most people are very careful around lions. Do you want to know why you need to stay aware about your adversary? It is because lions can attack and kill people. In the Bible, Peter talks about a roaring lion. But the lion is not that kind you can see in a zoo, right?
The roaring lion that Peter is talking about is the devil.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (1 Peter 5:8, KJV)
The devil is always around us, tempting us to sin. He wants us to be separated from God forever. In the Bible, Paul reminds us that our struggles here on earth are not against other people.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12, KJV)
From 1 Peter 5:8-9, these verses tell us how we can resist the devil. Remember that my fever was my adversary because the devil brought the fever inside me. Importantly, we need to control ourselves with God’s help, be careful, refuse to follow the devil, and stand strong in our faith.
Watch out for the devil today. Let God help you stand strong and obey His Word.
