Two weeks ago, I received some very uncomfortable news from my mother. She told me that she thought that she had a breast tumor; the doctor examined her physical exam and found something was a small one inside one of her breasts. Yesterday, my mother went into surgery. I hoped that she had no signs of breast cancer. My mother did not know the result yet. To me -I ask myself an important question: if I find that I am officially diagnosed with breast cancer, how can I stay healthy while recovering from breast cancer?
I have a hard time thinking on how to stay healthy while recovering from breast cancer. I cannot imagine how I would feel about receiving that heartbreaking news from my mother. Furthermore, I am deeply worried about my breasts; my mother’s family health has passed through me and my female cousins. Also, I have two maternal aunts who are breast cancer survivors, except that one of my aunts passed away three years ago. One of my cousins found an early breast tumor 6 or 7 years ago; it was a very small tumor. She had surgery to remove the small tumor. I was relieved that my cousin recovered from having surgery.
Staying Healthy While Recovering From Breast Cancer
Limit Alcohol
My mother collects wine just like I do love collecting the famous wine. I must admit that a lot of people in my maternal family thinks that eating cheese and crackers while drinking a few wines (or alcoholics) are very easy, right? Not only that, it is not the same thing you do daily lifestyle such as getting up in the morning and jogging outside to beat up yourself after drinking too much the night before. Give yourself a time-out and start thinking about limiting your alcohol consumption. Drinking too much can easily irritate your health, especially your cancer, you’d better start thinking about giving yourself the limit of alcoholic consumption.
Taking Workouts (or Exercise)
Skipping the workouts or exercise routine is not so fun! When you are a breast cancer survivor, you need to stay active and you keep your health getting better and better. You make your commitment to your health because your doctor tells you to continue your exercise routine. Try workouts or exercise at least 3-4 times per week. Jogging or walking exercise would be fine 🙂
Eating Right
Eating junk food is a very big deal, I must admit that I am eating some junk food like potatoes chips and sodas. Not like that, I am not embarrassed. I continue to eat three healthy diet meals just like breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Eating vegetables and fruits gives you more nutrients you need to keep your strengths up while surviving breast cancer. You need to listen to what your body tells you it needs, you know that eating healthy diet keeps you defeat off your infection and it helps you manage the side effects from your treatment. Be sure to eat the calories and proteins that keep you working better in your health.
Meditating Better
While you do your meditation time, make sure that nobody bothers you. You must continue to stay positive with your health and body, your main goal is to fight and win your cancer. Stay relaxed and meditate quietly in your time alone. Try clearing off your stressful mind.
