Two years ago, my older son and husband came with me to go to Bayside Community Church, located in Granite Bay, CA. My husband Justen attended his “home” church, Bayside Church, before he met me at the different place. We were excited to watch a fabulous woman who was in the Duck Dynasty show on the stage at the church, Korie Robertson! She is also the office manager in Duck Commander. She lectured about her book: Strong and Kind. My husband and I talked about purchasing this book so we could read this book. I remember that seeing her at the church was such an awesome feeling.
Book Review: Strong and Kind by Korie Robertson
Korie Robertson wrote the book, Strong and Kind, about raising kids of Character. Korie wanted us to understand what our children need to succeed through the character traits. We, as Christian parents, want to seek God’s wisdom and see the possible, positive character traits in our children, but we need to know how to teach them grow a better strong and kind characters. (Proverbs 22:6)
By showing the character traits, I believe that the creativity and confidence in truth and love work together through God’s grace and wisdom. God knows that our children are imperfect but they continue to learn how to deal with all the character traits. Raising my two sons with positive characters is hugely possible because my husband and I have trained our sons very well while sharing God’s word and our real-life experiences. We cannot control our sons as well as they cannot control us back because we know only God can possibly control us all the way. Without training or teaching our sons, their lives would have been messed up. It’s our job to help and explain every detail to our sons and make sure they are responsible for their own choices and decisions. In fact, I see that our two adult sons have bad or good choices (or decisions) no matter what happens, God takes care of their problems. As a mother, I keep encouraging them to give their problems to God so they can rest without worrying too much about things that cannot be changed because God would do anything to fight this for them. I believe that God can change things in the future. As Christian parents, we love them unconditionally and we always forgive each other as well as God forgives. However, my husband and I know that raising our sons never be easy but training them well is the most important key to be good parent.
I do not see anything that contradicts God’s word in this book. Truthfully, this book is very amazing. I am aware of that some readers share their negative opinions about this book. I cannot able to speak for them. Respectfully, this is the best discipline for kids book that I’ve ever seen.
